- The gate leans toward the latch post when it’s open. The lower hinge is taking the most abuse, and the pin or bushing is compressing unevenly – if left alone, the gate will eventually drop enough to shear the upper hinge bolts.
- You hear a metal-on-metal grumble or shriek during the last few inches of travel. That’s usually a roller wheel that has split or gone flat on one side, and the gate is now dragging the bracket across the rail instead of rolling on the wheel.
